HomeWorld News7 killed in floods and landslides in South Korea on evacuation orders

Seven people were killed, three missing, seven injured and thousands evacuated in South Korea on Saturday, as torrential rain for a third day triggered landslides and a dam overflowed, officials said. As of 11 a.m. (0200 GMT), 1,567 people had been evacuated nationwide, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Safety, and the number could rise as waters overflow the dam in North Chungcheong Province. Evacuation orders issued by local governments have covered more than 7,000 people at various times, according to provincial authorities.
