Russian news agencies reported on Friday that an explosion targeted an explosives factory in Samara, central Russia, killing six people and wounding two others. The explosion occurred at the Promsynthesis plant in the city of Chapaevsk. “Eight people were injured, six of whom died,” the RIA Novosti news agency quoted emergency services as saying. They said the explosion occurred “as a result of dismantling equipment during repair work.” Promsintez is one of the major manufacturers of industrial explosives in Russia and the former Soviet Union.
