US President Joe Biden admits critical days to save candidacy.cms

US President Joe Biden He told his key allies that he understood the next few days were critical for him. re-election candidacy After a troubled debate performance last week.
Trump, who has acknowledged that his viability as a candidate has been questioned, remains committed but is aware he needs to reassure voters of his abilities, the New York Times reported.
“Nobody’s pushing me out. I’m not leaving,” Biden said in a statement Wednesday, showing his confidence during a meeting with his campaign team. Vice President Kamala Harris joined him, reinforcing their resolve. “We will not back down. We will follow our president’s lead. We will fight and we will win,” he said.
Even so, allies said Biden privately knows he needs to perform well in upcoming appearances, particularly an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos and campaign stops in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. “He knows that if we have two more events like this, we’re going to be in a different place by the end of the weekend,” said one ally, who requested anonymity, referring to Biden’s stumbling debate performance.
These private conversations mark the first public glimpse of Biden weighing in on his ability to bounce back from the debate. A new poll by The New York Times and Siena College shows former President Donald J Trump trailing Biden among likely voters 49% to 43%, a three-point swing toward Trump after the debate.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre disputed claims that Biden had spoken with allies about dropping out of the race, saying, “That is absolutely false.” But a senior adviser, speaking on condition of anonymity, emphasized that Biden is aware of the political challenges ahead and is not sold on his own perception of his abilities.
Biden maintains that his debate performance was a one-time event and remains confident in his leadership abilities. Meanwhile, key party donors have privately called for Biden to resign, reflecting broader domestic concerns. “The only thing that matters is his decision to quit,” one Democratic elected official said, speaking anonymously.
Biden has since reached out to key Democrats, including meeting with Vice President Harris and Democratic governors at the White House. Representatives received by Press Secretary Jean-Pierre included House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Rep. Debbie Dingell said Biden needs to appeal to the public more directly. “He has to show the American people that he can do the job. He can’t be in a bubble right now,” Dingell said.
That sentiment is echoed by key donors who have expressed displeasure over Biden skipping a campaign call meant to provide reassurance, and Democrats are increasingly questioning transparency around Biden’s age and its impact.
