London: In Britain, an ex-serviceman jailed for serious crimes such as leaking official documents and breaching the Secrecy Act has escaped.

According to the world news agency, Daniel Abid Khalifa, a 21-year-old ex-soldier imprisoned under the Official Secrets Act in a London prison, managed to evade the prison staff by wearing the uniform of a cook who came to cook food.

The ex-soldier is said to have managed to sneak out of the prison by hiding in a truck compartment with caterers wearing a chef’s uniform.

Prison staff found out when they found Daniel Khalifa’s barracks empty.

It may be recalled that the ex-serviceman was dismissed from his job in May. He is also accused of making a bomb and planning to plant it at three different locations.

The jail staff informed the Ministry of Home Affairs after which an alert was issued in all airports and seaports to prevent the escape of the accused abroad.

Apart from this, the police prepared for raids in every place where there is a possibility of presence of the accused. Security has also been tightened on the highways connecting one city to another, but so far the police have not been able to arrest him.
