DUBAI: A merchant ship reporting an incident Red Sea The UK Merchant Marine Operations (UKMTO) said it was hit by a small ship on Wednesday.
Two naval sources, on condition of anonymity, added that the ship was damaged and its engine room was hit in what appeared to be a deliberate attack.
The incident occurred approximately 67.7 nautical miles southwest. Yemenport hodeidahBritish security firm Ambrey aforementioned.
“The ship aligned with the Houthis’ target profile at the time of the incident,” Ambrey said in an advisory note.
Ships Greek manager Comment was not immediately available.
Houthi militantsIt has been attacking international shipping in the Red Sea region since November in solidarity with the Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas, which controls Yemen’s capital and most populous areas, and has been subject to retaliatory attacks by the US and UK since February.
