Hanoi: In a fire in a residential apartment in Vietnam, 30 people, including 3 children, were badly burned to death while 20 were seriously injured.

According to the World News Agency, a terrible fire broke out in the parking lot on the first floor of a multi-storey residential building in Vietnam, where dozens of motorcycles were burnt to ashes.

The fire in the parking area soon engulfed the second and third floors.

During the rescue operations, 70 people trapped in the terrible fire were safely evacuated while 54 people were shifted to hospital where 30 people were confirmed dead.

The hospital administration says that the deaths were due to severe burns and suffocation. Due to the condition of 9 of the 20 injured, the number of casualties is expected to increase.

Located in a densely populated area, the balconies of this flat were small and closed with iron grills. There was no way out for the people trapped in the fire and the rescue operations were also hampered by the limited space.

It should be remembered that 32 people were killed and 17 injured in a fire in a 3-storey bar in Vietnam a year ago. An apartment fire killed 13 in 2018, while the same number of people died in a similar accident in Hanoi in 2016.
