Cairo: A shark that attacked a foreigner in Egypt was caught by locals with a net and beaten to death by sticks.

According to Urdu News, the tiger shark that killed a 23-year-old Russian citizen in Hurghada, Egypt, was beaten to death with sticks by locals going to the beach.

On Thursday, a 23-year-old Russian national named Vladimir Popao was attacked by a shark while swimming at a Red Sea resort in Egypt’s Hurghada city.

A video of the dead Russian national has gone viral on the Internet, in which he can be seen kicking his feet in the water, screaming and trying to get away from the shark.

Eyewitnesses there say that the tiger shark played with the body of Vladmir Popao for 2 hours and then took it into the water.

After the incident, local people who went to the beach put their boats in the water and caught the shark that attacked the Russian citizen with a net and brought it out of the water.

In another video that has gone viral on the internet, it can be seen that locals in the form of a mob are beating a shark with sticks to avenge the death of a Russian citizen.

Egypt’s Environment Ministry has confirmed that the particular shark has been caught and will now be examined to determine what prompted it to attack the Russian citizen. Experts will look into whether it is responsible for other incidents as well.

It is not yet clear whether the shark that attacked the Russian citizen and the shark that people are killing in the video are the same or not.

Authorities, on the other hand, have closed the 74 km stretch of coastline and announced that it will be closed for swimming and other water sports till Sunday.
