According to foreign media, the second tragic incident of migrant boat sinking has occurred in Spain, where 37 people have died as a result of the boat sinking near the Canary Islands.

In this regard, Helena Malino Garzon, a human rights defender in the Spanish non-governmental organization Walking Borders, said on Twitter that four women and a child were among those killed in the accident.

According to the report, a total of 63 passengers were on board the boat. Rescue personnel rescued 24 passengers while two bodies, including a child, have been recovered. The boat remained in Spanish waters for more than 12 hours and people continued to plead for help after the accident.

Spain’s maritime agency says the accident occurred due to the ship breaking down in the open sea. According to Spanish government data, 5,914 people have arrived in the Canary Islands between January 1 and June 15 this year.

It should be noted that more than 700 passengers, including more than 300 Pakistanis, were on board the migrant boat that sank in the Pacific Ocean near Greece. Hundreds of passengers, including dozens of Pakistanis, lost their lives due to the sinking of the boat.

After the incident, the government of Pakistan has cracked down on people involved in human trafficking and detained several people while the operations are ongoing.
