Tehran: A coal mine in Iran has collapsed after an explosion killed several miners.

According to the international news agency, a strong explosion occurred due to unknown reasons at a depth of 400 meters in a coal mine located in a remote area of ​​Damghan, Iran.

As a result of the explosion, the mine collapsed. The miners were buried under the rubble for 24 hours and 6 miners died without help. A day later, the bodies of 6 miners were recovered from the rubble.

There were no safety measures in the coal mine which was set up illegally. No information regarding mine ownership could be obtained.

It should be noted that mining accidents are common in Iran and in 2017, 43 miners were killed as a result of an explosion in a mine.
