Muzaffar Nagar: A former Muslim MP was arrested for stealing trees in India.

According to Indian media, former Samajwadi Party MP Kadir Rana from Muzaffarnagar city of Uttar Pradesh has been arrested on the charge of stealing trees from his neighbor’s land, while a case of encroachment on his neighbor’s land has also been registered against him.

Police officials said that the petition filed by Kadir Rana’s neighbor Anita Gupta has accused him of cutting and stealing more than 50 poplar and eucalyptus trees on Anita’s land. Kadir Rana has also been accused of releasing polluted water from his factory into the fields. Police are investigating further.

In Muzaffarnagar, Muslim houses and shops are being attacked since last month. Hindu extremists have put up posters threatening Muslims to vacate their homes and have threatened dire consequences, including death, if they do not vacate their homes. The police supporting the Hindu extremists are playing the role of silent spectators instead of taking action on atrocities and threats against Muslims.
