Mumbai: Orange alert has been issued in western Indian states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa in view of Cyclone Biparjoy, while many flights have been canceled in Mumbai.

According to the details, orange alert has been issued in the western states of India, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and other coastal areas.

Residents began evacuating and several flights were canceled in Mumbai due to storm-force winds, Reuters news agency said.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupinder Patel has said that seven teams of India’s National Disaster Response Force and twelve teams of the State Disaster Response Force have been deployed in the affected districts, including Cyclone Kut, Jamnagar, Morbi, Garsomnath, Porbandar. and Devbhumi Dwarka districts are likely to be affected.
