Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar arrived in Dubai on Wednesday to attend the 28th United Nations Conference of Parties (COP-28).

UAE Justice Minister Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and Pakistani diplomatic staff met the Prime Minister at Dubai’s Al-Maktoum Airport, the media wing of the Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release. Welcomed the minister. ,

The Prime Minister will lead the Pakistani delegation to the 28th Conference of Parties (COP-28), and will also participate in the World Climate Action Summit to be held on December 01-02.

Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Caretaker Climate Change Minister Ahmed Irfan Aslam and Caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali will also participate in the globally popular climate change event.

The COP28 summit is being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from today; It will run till December 12.

COP refers to the signatories of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, an agreement that was signed by more than 150 governments in 1992.

Reading PM Kakkar asked difficult questions in LUMS

COP28 is the 28th annual summit that will bring leaders from around the world. The event is expected to be attended by approximately 70,000 participants, including various heads of state and government, climate envoys, experts, business leaders, indigenous groups, activists, diplomats and others.

The conference will seek consensus on goals and strategies to deal with the climate crisis.

Earlier in the day, Kakkar and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah held a meeting that promoted mutual commitment to enhance bilateral relations in various fields.

According to a statement issued by the PMO, Prime Minister Kakar stressed the paramount importance that Pakistan attaches to its relations with Kuwait. He reiterated Pakistan’s keenness to broaden bilateral cooperation to trade, energy, information technology, labour, minerals and investment.

Prime Minister Kakkar expressed satisfaction over the strong cooperation between the two countries at various international forums. He also appreciated Kuwait’s initiative in recruiting Pakistani manpower especially in the health, security and infrastructure sectors.
