Beijing: The US Secretary of State has arrived in Beijing on an extraordinary visit to China. This visit is a major breakthrough in China-US relations, but it is not yet clear whether there will be any real progress.

Reuters According to U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blanken has arrived in Beijing on a two-day visit to China. The purpose of the visit is to restore relations between the United States and China, but there is little hope of any progress.

The US news agency Associated Press headlined that Blanken arrived in Beijing on Sunday on a high-level diplomatic mission to defuse the rising tensions between the US and China, the first visit by a top US official to China in five years. And Blankenship is the highest-ranking US official to visit China since President Joe Biden took office.

During the visit, the US Secretary of State will meet with his Chinese counterpart Chen Gang, top diplomats, and possibly President Xi Jinping. The visit was postponed in February when a Chinese surveillance balloon flying over the US was shot down.
