New Delhi: 27-year-old Dimple and his 21-year-old girlfriend Manisha got married in India, which was attended by both their families.

According to Indian media, Dimple, who belongs to the Sikh community, and Manisha, a Hindu Dalit, had been friends for a long time and wanted to get married, but her family did not agree.

However, Dimple, who was used to having boyish hair and dressing like a boy since her youth, finally convinced her parents, after which Minisya’s parents also agreed.

Dimple has studied up to 12th standard and works as a cloth merchant. He told the media that since childhood I thought I was a boy. I thought of having an operation but the parents did not agree.

27-year-old Dimple says, “I tried so hard to be with girls. I had an affair with one for 5 years and another for 2 years, but both left me.”

Dimple further said that luckily she met Manisha who decided to live with me after thinking very carefully and then both of our parents agreed.

The couple got married in a gurdwara in which both families attended and wished the couple well.

As soon as the news of the marriage became public, a controversy arose. Sikh leaders criticized both the families terming the marriage as against religion and society.

It should be remembered that the number of homosexuals in India was 2.5 million by 2012, which has increased significantly, but gay marriage has not been officially recognized until now.

However, the Supreme Court has heard 21 petitions related to the legalization of same-sex marriages this year and a decision is expected soon.
