The son of the leader of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state in Madhya Pradesh has been accused of sexually abusing two girls.
According to NDTV, the son of a BJP leader from Madhya Pradesh is among those accused of gang-raping a girl and sexually abusing her younger sister in Datia district.
After this incident, the relatives of the victim girls and local people surrounded the police station and demanded action, after which two accused have been arrested. The area is home to state Home Minister Narottam Mishra, who represents the Datia Assembly constituency.
On the other hand, the BJP office in Datia district said on Sunday that strict action would be taken against the son of the party’s local leader if he was involved in the incident.
According to the police, one of the victim girls made an unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide by putting a noose around her neck and was taken to the hospital where she is undergoing treatment. All the accused involved in the incident belong to Unnao police station area.
Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma says that the victim girls and the accused are students and the police is investigating the matter.
“The complainant has stated that she and her elder sister were abducted by four persons and taken to a house where her elder sister was raped,” he added.
It should be noted that four accused are involved in the incident, two of them have been arrested while two accused have escaped.
In this regard, the police has announced a reward of 10,000 rupees for helping in the arrest of the absconding accused.
