US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken has said that he stands with the Pakistani people in this difficult time.
In a Twitter statement on Thursday, he welcomed the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) revival of Pakistan’s loan program.
The US Secretary of State further said that ‘We urge Pakistan to continue working with the IMF for macroeconomic reforms and sustainable economic recovery.’
Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said last month that the US supports the IMF program for Pakistan.
He expressed these views in the House of Representatives in response to the statement of Congressman All Green.
The Congressman had demanded the US government to play a role in providing aid to Pakistan from the IMF.
In the meeting of the IMF Executive Board on Wednesday, a three billion dollar loan was approved for Pakistan.
One billion 20 million dollars was transferred to the account of the State Bank of Pakistan on Thursday after the approval of the Executive Board of the IMF.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the friendly countries for the agreement with the IMF and said, “I thank Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and China for their sincere cooperation with us.”
The IMF says that the economic reform program in Pakistan is intended to provide immediate support to the economy.
International Monetary Fund According to ‘Pakistan has to stick to the decided policies. One billion 80 crore dollars will be scheduled after the November and February reviews.
“Fiscal discipline, market-based exchange rates, energy sector reforms, climate change initiatives, business climate work are needed after this agreement.”
According to the IMF’s statement, ‘speedy implementation of policies is indispensable for the success of Pakistan and this program.’
