The US Coast Guard has said that human remains are likely to be found in the wreckage of the wrecked Titan submarine in the deep sea.
According to the American news agency Associated Press, this news came a few hours after the announcement that the debris of the Titan has reached the city of St. John’s, Canada.
The Titan submarine, which was on its way to view the Titanic wreck in the North Atlantic, exploded and was destroyed, killing all five people on board, including the captain.
The debris was picked up 12,000 feet below the surface of the North Atlantic Ocean. The various pieces of the Titan were unloaded at the port by the Canadian Coast Guard.
Finding and examining debris from the ocean floor is a key part of the investigation into why Titan exploded last week. The days-long search and eventual recovery of the wreckage of the 22-foot-long submarine has captured the world’s attention.
U.S. Coast Guard Chief Capt. Jason Neubauer said in a statement Wednesday that “much work remains to be done to understand the factors that led to the catastrophic loss of the Titan and to ensure that such a tragedy does not happen again.” Be there.’
He said that ‘these possible human remains will be brought to the United States where medical experts will regularly examine them.’
Capt. Jason Neubauer said the Coast Guard has called for a high-level investigation into the explosion.
According to the US Coast Guard, the Marine Board of Investigation will analyze and examine evidence, including pieces of wreckage, at a US port.
