US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller has said that Pakistan should continue its actions against the outlawed Lashkar-e-Taiba and other extremist groups including Jaish-e-Mohammed.
In the weekly briefing in Washington, when Matthew Miller was asked by the Pakistani journalist that the government of Pakistan rejected the demand included in the joint declaration after the meeting between Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called it baseless. I was told not to allow our land to be used for terrorism.
In response, the spokesman said that the people of Pakistan have been victims of terrorism and we are committed to work with Pakistan against terrorism in the entire region.
He said, “We recognize that Pakistan has taken several important steps against terrorists under the FATF list, including the issue of arrest and punishment.”
According to him, ‘We appreciate both India and Pakistan for observing the ceasefire along the Line of Control.’
When the spokesperson was asked, referring to the treatment of Muslims and other minorities in India, why is there no mention of human rights and religious populations in the joint declaration of India and the United States?
In response, Matthew Miller said, “We regularly raise the issue of human rights in India with the authorities there.”
According to him, ‘President Joe Biden also discussed it in the press conference along with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.’
Miller was asked if the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Assam, who is an ally of Narendra Modi, used insulting words about former US President Barack Obama in a social media post in the past few days. How does America see it and would like to say something about it?
In response, Matthew Miller said, “I don’t think the United States will say anything on this issue.”
