London: A joke about a painting bought in a thrift store in Britain for just four dollars proved true. The picture is truly a masterpiece that will be auctioned this month and is expected to fetch $250,000 (Rs 7.66 million).

In 2017, the woman bought it from a thrift store signed by NC Wyeth. He joked that it might be an original painting by NC Wythe, the famous American painter who passed away. Now it has been confirmed in 2023 and its price has been revealed in millions of dollars.

It will be sold by Bonham Skinner auction house. An expert here has said that the woman had bought the painting from a store in Manchester who herself did not know its history. The painting was placed alongside torn posters and photographs.

The woman took him home and nailed him to the wall but did not try to find out the truth for many years. It is actually a painting by Naval Converse Wyeth who died in 1945.
