LONDON: Charles III made his first speech in parliament on Monday after ascending to the throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and hailed the “important” traditions of British lawmakers.

The country’s new monarch delivered his inaugural parliamentary address to members of the elected lower house of the Commons and upper house of the Lords to a packed Westminster Hall.
