HomeTechnologyWhatsApp has released new updates for Android users.

Meta-owned messenger application WhatsApp has recently rolled out new updates for Android users. The company has refreshed the look of the main page with a new layout for tabs like chats, calls and more.

The update also adds a new chat lock feature, WearOS support, and new tools for status, among others. The user also gets the option to save important messages when using the disappearing messages option.

All new features are rolling out to everyone. But, since it is a gradual rollout, it will take some time for WhatsApp to reach all Android users.

New layout on WhatsApp

The layout of the main WhatsApp window has just been refreshed, with users now seeing Chats, Calls, Communities and Status tabs at the bottom of the page, giving people quick access to any of the aforementioned tabs. It will be easy to get.

Meanwhile, iOS users already use a similar interface and now WhatsApp’s Android beta users will also be able to experience this layout.

Chat lock

The update also brings chat lock feature along with other minor features and improvements for many Android users, after which users will be able to put a fingerprint lock on their super personal chats.

Locked chats will remain hidden on the app’s main dashboard. One just needs to visit a person’s profile, scroll down and tap on the ‘Chat Lock’ feature to enable the chat.

Disappearing messages include new feature.

The new Android added disappearing message option allows users to save important messages for later using the disappearing messages feature.

For this feature, users have to click on a message and select ‘cap’ to start. Selected messages will be permanently saved and the rest of the text will be deleted after a specified period of time.

New tools for status

WhatsApp has also added new text overlay tools for statuses, including updated fonts and background colors.

Improvements to GIFs

Now, one won’t need to tap on GIFs as they will play automatically once you get on WhatsApp chats. It’s a small improvement, but some people might like it.
