California: Technology giant Google has indicated that it will end its podcast service in 2024. Starting next year, users will be able to listen to podcasts on YouTube Music.
In April this year, Google made it possible for US users to listen to podcasts without a subscription to YouTube Music. Users can also listen to podcasts offline using this feature.
According to an announcement made by YouTube, podcasts will be available globally in YouTube Music by the end of 2023.
The podcast app launched on Android in 2018 provided users with a library of podcasts for free. In 2020, Google revamped the app and launched it on iOS. Currently, the service is also available on the web, Windows, and MacOS.
In a blogspot post, YouTube wrote that in 2024 the company will increase investment in the podcast experience in YouTube Music and Google Podcasts will be discontinued in the later part of 2024.
It should be noted that before this, Google announced to end Gmail’s HTML Basic View feature.
