Paris: France has ordered Apple to stop selling the iPhone 12 in the country due to high electromagnetic radiation emissions.

According to international media, France’s radio frequency regulator (ANFR) has also asked the company to eliminate the problem from existing phones.

ANFR has recommended that Apple recall all iPhone 12s sold in France if the company cannot fix the problem through a software update.

According to Apple, the company is challenging the decision of the French institution.

Apple clarified that all lab test results from the company and third parties have been submitted to the agency showing that the device meets all legal requirements.

French Digital Minister Jean-Noel Barret told a newspaper that the decision was made due to the radiation emitted by the phone in excess of the specified limit.

He said that the ANFR found that the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of the iPhone 12 was higher than the legal limit.

He added that a response from Apple is expected within two weeks.

The iPhone was released on September 12, 2020 and is still on sale worldwide.
