HomeTechnologyDiscord files will expire after one day to prevent malware.

Discord will now delete all files 24 hours after they are posted. The company told Bleeping Computer that the move would prevent malware from appearing on the platform and provide greater ability to “restrict access to flagged content.”

Discord will not change users’ experience of sharing files on the Internet as links will refresh automatically. The company intends to share more “in the coming weeks” with developers who “may see minimal impact.”

Cybersecurity firm, Trelix, recently reported about 10,000 malware samples distributed online were being stored on Discord’s content delivery network (CDN). The hackers were using the platform’s web hooks to pull data from victims’ computers and inject it into Discord channels run by the attackers.
