This year’s Apple event brought some of the most anticipated gadgets of the year, especially the iPhone 15 series. While Apple has announced different new additions and features, the upgrade of the new gadget may force users to deliberate for a minute due to its minor tweaks and changes, along with the exorbitant price tag.
This year, Tim Cook enthusiastically unveiled the iPhone 15 series, Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch Series 9 while pursuing his 2030 low carbon emissions target.
The iPhone 15 Pro has been unveiled as the ‘most beautifully designed’ phone ever by Apple with its premium camera and titanium casing. However, most importantly, all Apple devices will now get a change in charging ports with the switch to USB-C, which will also apply to iPhones, Airpods, iPads, and Macbooks.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus
This 6.10-inch phone has a 48MP + 12MP rear camera and A16 Bionic chip for great performance. The phone has a 12MP front camera with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. iPhone 15 is based on iOS17 with dual SIM feature.
The phone is expected to launch in black, blue, green, pink and yellow colors. In comparison, the iPhone 15 Plus is slightly larger with a 6.7-inch screen, but the phones come with a USB-C charging port.
There’s a dynamic island at the top of the phone for easy access to phone functions, live updates, and navigation. Apple has also introduced new connectivity and SOS features that will provide roadside assistance if needed. Although this feature is only available in the US as of now, if this feature is expanded to other regions then it can get roadside assistance from companies and locate them at the user’s exact location.
The price of iPhone 15 has been kept at $799 and $899.
iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max; show stealer
The most expensive phone to date, the iPhone 15 Pro features unique Grade 5 titanium, fused with an aluminum internal structure. This phone is not only lighter, but is also much thinner than the previous series, it also has smaller bezels. With 6.1 and 6.7 inches, Apple offers fast USB-C charging ports with the Pro models. The phone is shown in blue, black, white and natural titanium colors. 
The most notable feature of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max is the action button replacing the mute toggle. Action buttons can be used to achieve any desired action users desire, while simply pressing the button triggers haptic feedback and animation in the dynamic island.
The Pro model also has the A17 processor which will increase the efficiency and transistor count to 19 billion. Paired with a 6-core GPU, it delivers 20% faster peak performance and better energy efficiency. Apple has also included new graphics features like mesh shading and hardware ray tracing acceleration. The new 48MP main camera is larger than the one on the iPhone 15 and has an f/1.78 aperture. The phone has three different zoom options 24mm, 28mm and 35mm lenses, the telephoto camera on the iPhone 15 Pro is an improved 12MP camera.
The iPhone 15 Pro is priced at $999 while the Pro Max is priced at $1199.
Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2
Apple announced two Watch series this year, including the Ultra 2 with more advanced features for professionals in extreme sports. Featuring the S9 processor, the gadget has superior speed and power efficiency. The Watch series will now have a new ‘double tap’ gesture between the thumb and index finger. The double tap gesture will activate an action button for primary tasks like answering a call.
Apple has also included a second-generation UWB chip that accurately tracks the closest location to an object. It can also be used to track your iPhone from another room. The Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 have brighter displays, with the Series 9 supporting a maximum of 2,000 nits, while the Ultra 2 goes up to 3,000 nits. Siri will be available at all times on the device, even without a cellular or WiFi network.
The Watch Series Ultra 2 features an additional modular Ultra watch face to display even more information, with Bluetooth connectivity and a log featuring depth and altitude for divers and hikers. Both devices have been replaced with leather with more eco-friendly bands that are stylishly designed while achieving sustainability.
The Apple Series 9 is available for $399 while the Ultra 2 starts at $799.
A range of different devices were showcased at Apple’s event, with hype particularly built up on the internet that the new iPhone 15 could feature. Although the prices of the devices have been set very high, the iPhone lineup does not have as many changes and features as users would like to see.
However, the Watch Series Ultra 2 has enthralled many Apple enthusiasts with its advanced features for professional sports and high performance. Apple has made every effort this year to achieve its sustainability goals and improve its Bionic chip for better and more efficient performance.
It remains to be seen what its rival Samsung can bring to the platform this year.
