Telecom company PTCL has linked Pakistan to Africa-1 submarine cable for the improvement of digital and telecommunication system.

According to vopbuzz, submarine cable with large quantities of data transmission capabilities, Africa-1, has been linked to the PTCL Exchange in Karachi.

PTCL has formally signed an agreement to join the Africa-1 cable system consortium to strengthen Pakistan’s links with global digital centers and the national telecommunication structure.

The 10,000 km long cable system includes the latest technologies, which will connect Pakistan to strategic places, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, France, Kenya, and Djibouti.

PTCL Group Vice President for International Business, Syed Mohammad Shoaib said that our participation in the Africa-1 cable system is in line with Pakistan’s ‘Digital Vision 2030’.

He added that we are committed to empowering people by eliminating digital distribution, so that innovation in various sectors can be promoted and the domestic economy can be strengthened.

It should be noted that the Africa-1 cable system will be activated in early 2026, after which world-class Internet facilities will be available to users.
