HomeSportsWatch: Shaheen ignoring Gurbaz

The last and third ODI of the three-match series between Pakistan and Afghanistan took place in Colombo on Saturday.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan lost four quick wickets. Then Babar Azam (60) and Mohammad Rizwan (67) stabilized the innings at 162-2.

Salman Agha (38 off 31 balls) and Mohammad Nawaz (30 off 25) rescued the team from a precarious 189-6 after 41 overs when Shaheen Shah Afridi stepped in to 266-8 with only one ball to spare.

Faced with a Farid Ahmed delivery, Shaheen guides the ball towards deep mid-wicket. He and Salman completed two runs and looked to go for a third, but the ball went over wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s head and he decided against it.

In an attempt to catch the ball, Gurbaj jumped and overextended his right leg. This strained his muscles, causing him to sit on the ground in discomfort. Shaheen walked towards the pavilion from behind Gurbaz without any worry, which caught the attention of the spectators.

I cannot express in words how much I love Shaheen. pic.twitter.com/3Oy9MZmrGt

Notably, in the 2022 T20 World Cup warm-up match, Shaheen bowled a yorker that hit Gurbaz’s boot, resulting in his lbw. On that occasion, Shaheen immediately checked on Gurbaz, who was clearly in pain.

Shaheen Shah went to Afridi Rahmanullah Gurbaz and asked him about the seriousness of his injury. Brilliant performance from Shaheen Afridi. Earlier, Shaheen had put a yorker on the toe of Gurbaz. #PAKvAFG #shaheenshahafridi #t20worldcup #warmupmatch pic.twitter.com/Mbk0u5LJde
