HomeSports'They are not ODI bowlers yet': Akhtar, Aaqib take on Pakistan's fast...

Former Pakistan cricketer Aaqib Javed has expressed concern about Hasan Ali’s performance with the new ball.

Hasan Ali has taken six wickets so far in the first two matches of the World Cup against Netherlands and Sri Lanka.

“Hassan Ali, if you look at his record, has never been able to perform well with the new ball. So, if Shaheen Shah Afridi gets trapped, there could be a problem,” Aaqib said.

“If you look at Wasim Junior, there are many matches where he has not even completed his quota of 10 overs,” he said.

Aaqib also suggested that Haris Rauf is most effective as a one-change bowler, using his pace to control the middle and death overs.

Aaqib concluded, “Harris Rauf is best suited for a change. With his pace, he can control the bowling of the middle overs and death overs.”

With regard to the overall bowling unit, former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar expressed some skepticism, saying that the current bowlers are not yet fully adapted to the demands of ODIs.

“He is not an ODI bowler yet. Bowling 10 overs is a different thing. We played only 12 ODI matches last year,’ Shoaib Akhtar said.

However, Shoaib Akhtar remains optimistic and is expecting better performances in the upcoming matches and urged fans not to lose faith in the bowlers.

“I will support them as far as bowling is concerned. This is the bowling unit that will start doing well in the upcoming two or three matches. I can understand the disappointment, but don’t give up on them,” he said.
