Pakistan is at the top of the ODI rankings for the second time this year. They reached the top spot for the first time after winning their first four matches in the five-match series against New Zealand in May. However, they lost the fifth and final match to New Zealand, leaving Australia back on top.

Pakistan will now take part in the 2023 Asia Cup and their first match in that six-team tournament will be against Nepal on August 30 in Multan.

They will then take on New Zealand and Australia in official warm-up matches for the World Cup, with their first match in this year’s tournament against the Netherlands in Hyderabad on 6 October.
