Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah today underwent successful surgery on his injured shoulder, ruling him out of the ICC World Cup 2023 starting in India.

The right-arm fast bowler suffered the injury during a crucial match against India in the Asia Cup 2023 last month.

Medical examination indicated a muscle injury in the shoulder area, unrelated to any previous shoulder problem.

The injury required surgical intervention, which was successful. After the surgery, Shah has been advised to take rest for four to six weeks, after which the rehabilitation process will be started gradually.

During the 46th over of the crucial match against India, the 20-year-old had to leave the field on the reserve day due to an injury near his bowling shoulder.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) immediately confirmed the severity of the injury, resulting in Shah’s withdrawal from both the Asia Cup tournament and the 2023 World Cup. Hasan Ali was named as his replacement.

Naseem Shah’s recovery timeline indicates a long absence from the cricket scene, with a return to action anticipated in three to four months.
