Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq on Tuesday became the joint second fastest batsman to reach 3,000 ODI runs during the World Cup match against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad.

The 27-year-old left-handed batsman reached the milestone when he reached the ninth position in the 67th ODI innings of his career, which started with a century against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi in 2017.

South Africa’s Hashim Amla was the fastest player to reach 3,000 ODI runs in 57 innings, while Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman and West Indies’ Shai Hope achieved the feat in 67 innings.

Haq is the 22nd Pakistani batsman to score 3,000 or more ODI runs, while Haq’s uncle Inzamam-ul-Haq leads the list with 11,701 runs in 375 matches.

Imam-ul-Haq was unable to capitalize on his success as he was out soon after for 12 as Pakistan chased the winning target of 345.
