HomeSportsHafeez criticizes journalist for associating fabricated news with his name

Former cricketers and technical committee members Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez highlighted the shortcomings displayed by the Pakistan team during the Asia Cup at a special meeting held at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Wednesday.

However, according to a sports journalist’s tweet, Misbah and Hafeez objected to the selection committee’s choice for the World Cup squad. The duo reportedly questioned the logic behind the selection of some players and suggested the inclusion of Sarfaraz Ahmed instead of Mohammad Haris.

Feeling misrepresented, Hafeez took to his social media platform ‘X’ to express his dissatisfaction over the situation. He reprimanded the journalist, terming the news as fabricated and expressed disappointment at being cited in such a misleading manner.

However, both parties later deleted the tweets.

It is noteworthy that during the meeting, a comprehensive assessment of Pakistan’s performance in the recently concluded 2023 Asia Cup was made.

The discussion included analysis of the team’s weaknesses during the Asia Cup and strategic ideas for the upcoming World Cup. Most importantly, the World Cup squad is expected to be announced by the end of this week.
