Former Pakistan captain Wakal Eunice criticized the national team bowlers for their lack of discipline following a six-wicket defeat to India at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

India chased a 242-run target, securing the top spot for Group A, leaving Pakistan on the brink of elimination.

After the match, Yunis emphasized that Pakistan cannot defend the total, pointing out that the bowlers had wandered out of their plans. “We like batting first. But there was not enough running on the board. This is what happens when you don’t get enough points,” Younis said.

“You’re overreaching things. Bowling requires discipline. Indian bowlers were disciplined. Bowling didn’t have enough discipline.”

Yunis also questioned the team’s lack of intentions and said that Pakistan will not put India under pressure despite a promising start.

“Babar was cool. He came out and Rizwan came in, the first ball, the van, four people. The intention was there and it seemed to give a good score. Honestly, what I don’t know if it happened. I don’t think anyone knows what happened.”

Pakistan’s bowling attack struggled to contain the Indian batting lineup, even after Rohit Sharma’s early firing. Virat Kohli’s 51st century undefeated 100 led India to victory with ease.

The result is a step-up of scrutiny about Pakistan’s performance, calling for Eunice and other former cricketers to advance better discipline and strategy.
