Mohammad Amir points out the flaws in Shaheen Afridi’s bowling action

Pakistani high-speed bowler Mohammad Meal suggests a change in bowling action to Pakistan’s current pace spearhead, Shaheensha Afridi. In a live programme on a private TV channel, Amir highlighted and provided tips to fix Shaheen’s action errors.

Standing on stage, Amir pointed out certain mistakes in Afridi’s bowling action, explaining how he could improve and become an even more dangerous bowler. He said that with some adjustments, Shaheen can return to his best form.

Since his injury at the 2022 T20 World Cup, Afridi’s bowling has lacked the same cutting edge, causing difficulties in Pakistan’s pace attack.

This performance drop was particularly evident in the Champions Trophy Opener against New Zealand, where the Pakistani bowler admitted 113 runs in the last 10 overs and took one wicket.

Former captain Rashid Latif, who speaks in the same program, said Afridi tends to bowl better against left-handed batters.

However, he struggled to generate the same swing against right-handed batters, and he had previously excelled.

He further suggested that Afridi’s bowling action requires some minor adjustments, an area that coaches should deal with before.
