Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Committee (PCB), will take on a new leadership role following the ICC Champions Trophy.
According to the report, NAQVI is planning to hold the presidency of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) after the Champions Trophy Final, vopbuzz reported.
Currently, the position is being held temporarily by Shami Silva, president of the Sri Lanka Cricket Committee.
However, after the upcoming General Council meeting, the presidency will be officially handed over to NAQVI.
In addition to the leadership changes, the General Council meeting will also discuss the venue for the Asian Cup, which will be held in India later this year.
The Pakistan match is expected to be scheduled in Dubai or Sri Lanka, with further discussion going on.
There are also reports that the 2023 Asian Cup and ICC Champions Trophy could continue under the hybrid model, both seeing India’s absence due to political tensions.
However, India retains hosting rights for these events.
The decision by the ACC to make these arrangements is intended to avoid further controversy between Pakistan and India in its lead into the Champions Trophy.
Last year, Mohsin Naqvi was unanimously opposed as chairman of Pakistan’s Cricket Committee for three years.
