Pakistan captain Babar Azam is on the verge of breaking another record of India’s Virat Kohli.

Babar is just six runs away from becoming the fastest captain to score 2000 ODI runs. The current record is held by Kohli, who has scored 2000 ODI runs as captain in 36 innings. Whereas Azam has scored 1994 runs in just 30 innings.

Babar will look to break Kohli’s record when Pakistan take on India in their next Asia Cup encounter in Kandy on Saturday.

The Pakistan captain also surpassed Hashim Amla as he became the fastest batsman to complete 19 ODI centuries during the opening match of the Asia Cup against Nepal in Multan.

While Amla took 104 innings to score his 19th ODI century, the Pakistan captain achieved the feat in 102 innings.

With his 151 against Nepal, Babar now joins Hashim Amla (104), Virat Kohli (124), David Warner (139) and AB to top the list of fastest batsmen to score 19 ODI centuries. De Villiers (171) is following him.
