Chasing 444 runs in the final of the World Test Championship, India have scored 164 runs for the loss of three wickets at the end of the fourth day.
Virat Kohli is not out with 44 and Ajinkya Rahane with 20 runs. On the final day of play, India need 280 runs to win with seven wickets remaining.
On Saturday at the Oval, Australia declared their second innings at the loss of eight wickets. And so, with a lead of 173 runs from the previous innings, India was given a target of 444 runs. Alex Carey remained not out with 66 runs while Mitchell Starc was outstanding with 41 runs. For India, Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets and Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav took two wickets each.
On a bowler-friendly wicket, India won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Chasing the big target, India’s Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started the innings quickly. But Shubman Gill could not stay on the wicket for most of the time and after scoring 18 runs, he was caught by Cameron Green off the ball of Scott Boland.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma batted aggressively but unfortunately could not complete his half-century and scored 43 runs off 60 balls with the help of seven fours and a six before falling lbw to Nathan Lyon. In the next over, Cummins also sent Pujara to the pavilion.
On this occasion, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane supported their team’s sinking ship and stood firm on the wicket.

Australia’s second innings

On the fourth day of the game, Australia started their innings with 150 runs for the loss of six wickets, but soon they had to suffer the loss of the wicket of Cameron Green, who scored 18 runs and was caught by Jadeja.
Mitchell Starc then came to the crease and opened the scoring with Alex Carey. A partnership of 93 runs was formed between the two. Starc scored 41 runs off 57 balls with the help of seven fours and became the victim of Mohammad Shami.

India’s first innings

In response to Australia’s 469 runs, the Indian team was dismissed for 296 runs in their first innings. India’s top batsmen looked helpless against the Australian pacers. Only Ajinkya Rahane’s 89, Shardal Thakur’s 51 and Ravindra Jadeja’s 48 showed resistance and brought the team’s score to this point. For Australia, Pat Cummins took three wickets and Cameron Greene and Scott Boland two wickets each.

Australia’s first innings

Australia’s first innings was in the name of Travis Head and Steven Smith, who not only took the team out of pressure with their brilliant batting, but also played a key role in scoring 469 runs.
