Karachi:
Sindh IGP Mushtaq Mahar inaugurated the ‘Zainab Alert’ mobile application at the Central Police Office (CPO) on Tuesday.
Addressing the inaugural function, the IGP highlighted the need as well as the benefits of the app and said that it would help in ensuring that there are fewer incidents like the murder of Zainab – a minor girl who was raped in Kasur and Was murdered – will happen in the future.
He further added, “With the addition of similar applications to the Zainab Alert System, vehicle checking and identification of criminals will soon become easier through information and communication technology.”
Zubair Habib, head of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee, who also spoke on the occasion, said the application was developed to keep a record of missing and recovered children.
The application matches the standards of international systems created for similar purposes, he said, adding that applications for iOS and websites are also being developed for immediate reporting of missing and recovered children.
