HomeLifestyle FashionTo put food on the table: Sanjay Kapoor on shifting to production

Bollywood actor Sanjay Kapoor reveals what inspired him to turn to filmmaking after years of being in front of the camera.

Following in the footsteps of his brother, actor Anil Kapoor, Sanjay made his Bollywood debut with Satish Kaushik’s romance flick ‘Love’ (1995) with Tabu. He continued to act in several films and made box office collections every year until the late 2000s.

Kapoor then rarely appeared in films and started venturing into production with elder brother Boney Kapoor to produce ‘Attitude’ (2015) starred his nephew Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha.

In a recent interview with an Indian newspaper, Kapoor got candid about the decision to make this change. He said, “I had films that didn’t work. I went through a lull where I wasn’t getting very interesting offers. I stayed and did not sign any riff-raff film. I got into production because I also had to work for my food and drink, everyone has to work to take care of the children and wife. (I had to work to bring food on my table, family, wife and kids all had to work to take care of).

Kapoor said that the best thing he ever did with himself was to ‘not sell cheap’ any and every kind of role.

The actor also mentioned that he chose production because it is the only thing he ‘knows and loves’ apart from acting.

It is pertinent to mention that Kapoor is married to former actor Maheep Sandhu and they have two children, Jahaan and upcoming Bollywood actress Shanaya.
