16-year-old Indian dancer Srishti Sudhir Jagtap entered the Guinness World Record after dancing for 127 hours.

Dancing for five consecutive days, Jagtap set a new world record for the longest dance marathon. He performed for 127 hours on the musical to surpass the record of 126 hours held by Nepal’s Bandana Nepal since 2018.

As per the details, Jagtap started her attempt on the morning of 29 May and continued till 3 June in her college auditorium amidst her supporters to claim the record. He chose Kathak dance, one of the eight major Indian classical dance forms. Jagtap trained under his grandfather Baban Mane for 15 months before the final attempt and performed two dance marathons of 126 hours each at home as part of practice sessions. According to the rules, the dancer must perform a recognized dance style to a ‘reasonable standard’ and keep their feet moving to the music at all times, apart from the five-minute break the participant is entitled to for every hour of activity. are allowed. These rest breaks can be accumulated if not taken, to take a nap or use the bathroom.

Reportedly, the artist used his rest breaks ‘mostly at midnight’ to take a nap or talk to his parents to ‘refresh his mind’. To stay fresh, she mostly depended on coffee apart from coconut water and chocolates. According to Jagtap, the last day of their performance was particularly difficult. “My body was unresponsive, all my body parts were frozen and felt pain. But mentally I was focused towards my goal,” she said.

“Because of rigorous practice, I was familiar with all the changes in my mind and body, so I was calm and steady until the end.” She admitted to having tiring moments but was grateful to her parents, who were with her throughout and kept sprinkling water on her face to keep her fresh.
