The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in its morning forecast predicted that the cyclone is likely to make landfall between KT Bunder and India’s Gujarat by evening.

Federal Climate Change Minister Senator Sherry Rahman then said that the cyclone had “slowed down” and would not make landfall before nightfall.

“Cyclone Biparjoy has slowed down, but core remains intense,” he said on Twitter. “It will no longer make landfall before nightfall. More details will be shared with the National Disaster Management Authority soon.”

Speaking during a press conference in the federal capital, the climate minister said Biparjoy’s landfall in the Pakistani coastal region has been delayed as it has slowed down and is expected to hit the Keti Bunder area of Sindh province at midnight today .

Heavy rain accompanied by dust storm is expected in Balochistan’s Hubb, Lasbela and Khuzdar districts on Thursday and Friday.

High intensity winds can cause damage to loose and weak structures (kutcha houses) including solar panels etc.

A storm surge of 3–4 m (10–13 ft) is expected at the landfall point (KT Bunder and surrounding), which may submerge low-lying settlements.
