Coke Studio Global has released another She Gill track on their youtube and it is worth a listen. This ballad throws new light on the versatility and singing skills of Gill, who shot to fame after her debut song Pasuri with Ali Sethi.

Topic Mera SaweraThe new track marks Gill’s debut solo appearance. It begins with a beautiful guitar/string plucked line that immediately grabs the listener’s attention, setting the tone for Gill to impress with her powerful vocals. The guitar gives the song an off-time feel, leaving you in awe, but it ties it up beautifully as soon as the electronic beats kick in.

As the song progresses, the string arrangement increases, adding more dynamism and power to the chorus. Gill’s familiar husky voice sounds immaculate and she delivers an almost effortless and emotional delivery throughout the song. The lyrics deal with facing one’s demons and fighting feelings of loneliness and despair.

The track’s video is quite simple, featuring Gill sitting on a couch and humming along. She stands up and begins belting out at the end of the song, adding to the intensity of her performance. The song is beautifully produced by Umair Tahir who has worked with many big Pakistani artistes like Young Stunner, Faris Shafi, Hassan Rahim, Shamoon Ismail among others.

Mera Savera is Gill’s second release on Coke Studio Global, his first collaboration with Turkish singer Evdeki Saat titled One Love. The platform features a select few globally recognized artists including Sam Smith, Yungblood and Shereya Ghoshal. Both the songs are licensed by Universal Music India and Turkey respectively. Could this suggest an international label deal for Gill in the near future? only time will tell.
