Japanese farmers have created a new fruit ‘Lemon Melon’, a combination of melon and lemon.

While summer fruits like mango, melon and litchi are being eaten, now a new fruit has hit the market.

Farmers in Japan’s second largest island, Hokkaido, have created a new fruit called ‘Lemon Melon’.

According to Tokyo media outlet Sora News 24, the new fruit has a round shape and is juicy to eat. This fruit will be sweet like a melon while also having a sour taste like a lemon.

Cultivation of lemon melon is now being done on a limited scale. It is currently cultivated by only five farmers in Hokkaido.

This new fruit looks like a melon but does not have the green stripes, while the inside is white.

According to the report, the Japanese horticulture company that makes this fruit has revealed that the melon from which this fruit is made has been imported from outside the country.

Amazingly, this company has been working on this fruit for the past five years in which they have conducted numerous experiments to cultivate lemon melon.

In the supermarkets of Japan, this fruit is available for 3 thousand 128 yen. Lemon Melon is said to have a pear-like flavor when fresh, but over time, it tastes like Hokkaido’s Yubari melon.

It should be noted that the farmers plan to grow 3,800 lemon melons this year, which will be sold in Sopporo, Hokkaido, at the end of August.
