HomeInspiring StoriesA woman thinks of annulling her marriage because of her mother-in-law's behavior

“So, my future wife is getting married soon. I bought my wedding dress weeks ago. But yesterday I came home early from work and something terrible happened. A woman revealed the problem she faced while preparing for her wedding.

It is worth noting that the future mother-in-law is very curiosity On this dress, she says, “Her mom pestered me about trying it on, but I firmly refused. I finally got the hang of it after she offered $100 to let me try it on. Her reason for being so persistent? Her ‘love’ for wedding dresses and her obsession with them. She says that is the reason.

“Fast forward to yesterday, I came home early from work and found my fiance at home. He freaked out when he saw me and tried to stop me from going into my room while trying to text someone on his phone. I opened the door and was shocked to see his mom in my dress. I took the phone and took a picture of her.

“My fiance got angry after I told him that I have to pay for a new dress in 3 days or else I will show the photo to the whole family. She started crying and then left and my fiance snapped at me saying I couldn’t be serious and that I was overreacting because his mom wanted to try on the dress and meant no harm. But I refused to listen to him because in my opinion, the dress should be worn by the bride and the bride only. Frankly, it disgusted me to see that dress again, and I don’t want it anymore. So I think it’s only fair that she pays me after she ruins it for me.

He yelled at me and told me to get up and stop treating his mother as an enemy. We had a fight when he failed to take me back and since then he has been staying with his mom. I felt terrible, but I spent $3K on this dress and worked so hard to get it, and I can’t stand seeing it, but people in my family think I’m escalating things and jeopardizing my relationship with my future mother-in-law, but also my fiance.”

Later, the woman updated her post to say her fiance called and said he would pay for the dress so they could “end the conflict.” But he emphasized a few things:

  • She has to hand over her phone to him so he can delete the photo himself.
  • Then she had to swear she didn’t have any copies to “use” against his mom.
  • She needs to apologize to her mother.
  • Finally, she asked him to leave his family group chat and leave Facebook for at least a month.

“I don’t know if I’ll agree because I don’t want him to pay for it, I want his mom and the person wearing it to pay for it. Not being mean, but trying to hold her accountable,” the woman added.

The story caused quite a stir on the Internet:
