HomeHealthVegetables possibly helpful in quitting smoking - Health

According to the World Health Organization, the number of smokers in the world is approximately 1.3 billion. After several studies have revealed the harmful effects of smoking on health, people are being urged to quit the habit.

People who want to quit smoking use alternative habits or products like chewing gum to kick this deadly habit so that they have less craving for cigarettes.

A study published a few years ago in the journal Nicotine and Tobacco Research found that people who ate more fruits and vegetables were less likely to stay smoke-free for at least 30 days than those who ate less. There are three times more.

Nicotine is naturally present in fruits, vegetables, and other foods we consume daily. These foods contain so little nicotine that we do not become addicted to it. This small amount of nicotine passes through the intestines and is easily absorbed by the body. In contrast, nicotine products (nicotine pads, etc.) contain large amounts of nicotine that are absorbed into the bloodstream.

Six daily foods that contain nicotine

eggplant

Eggplant is one of the daily foods that contain nicotine. Eggplant belongs to the nightshade family (tobacco also belongs to this family) and contains 100 micrograms of nicotine per gram.

The amount of nicotine in one cigarette is equal to the nicotine in 10 kg of eggplant.

potato

One potato contains about 15 micrograms of nicotine. But in mature crops and green potatoes, this amount increases to 42 micrograms.

Cauliflower

Cauliflower is among the vegetables that contain nicotine. Although cauliflower does not belong to the nightshade family, it still contains 16.8 micrograms of nicotine per gram.

Capsicum

A gram of capsicum used in curries, salads and other dishes contains 7.7 to 9.2 micrograms of nicotine.

tomato

Raw tomatoes on the plant are very high in nicotine, which decreases as the tomato ripens. One tomato contains about 7.1 micrograms of nicotine per gram.

The tea

One of the most popular beverages around the world, tea also belongs to the nightshade family. Different types of tea contain between 100 and 285 micrograms of nicotine per gram.
