HomeGulf NewsThe Israeli Parliament votes on a controversial judicial amendment

JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israel’s parliament is set to vote on Monday on a bill that would limit the powers of the courts, in a fresh political offensive to advance judicial reform that has divided the nation. The changes, proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right government, have sparked one of the country’s largest protest movements ever since they were announced in January. Tens of thousands of demonstrators have taken to the streets in weekly rallies to demand a halt to the planned reform of the Israeli justice system.
