Witnesses said air strikes hit Khartoum on Sunday and fighting raged in Sudan’s western region of Darfur, where the three-month-old war between the army and rival paramilitary forces showed no sign of abating. Witnesses told AFP in the east and northwest of the capital that army fighters “targeted bases” belonging to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, which “responded with anti-aircraft weapons.”
