The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates summoned the Director of Affairs of the Embassy of Sweden in Abu Dhabi and handed over a memorandum of protest against the continuous desecration of the Holy Quran.
According to WAM, the UAE news agency, the UAE Foreign Office emphasized that “ethnic discrimination and hate narratives, which have a negative impact on the achievement of peace and security, must be controlled.”
“The UAE opposes and rejects the justification of freedom of expression for such heinous activities.”
The Foreign Office said that the United Arab Emirates has rejected all activities that undermine peace and stability and will continue to do so in the future.
“The UAE is of the view that such actions are against moral and humanitarian values ​​and principles.”
The Emirati Foreign Office said that ‘the narrative of extremism and hatred is against international efforts to promote peace and security and the values ​​of tolerance among the nations’.
The Foreign Office stressed respect for religious symbols and holy figures and said to ‘refrain from provocation and sedition. The world now needs to work together to promote universal principles for tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
The Foreign Office said that ‘repeatedly allowing serious acts such as the desecration of the Holy Quran is contrary to international laws and traditions that prevent desecration of sacred symbols, books and religions. Moreover, the narrative of hatred and extremism tends to inflame conflicts’.
