The United Arab Emirates and Turkey signed agreements and memoranda of understanding worth $50.7 billion on the occasion of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Abu Dhabi.

According to the official news agency of the United Arab Emirates, WAM, in the presence of the Emirati President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the President of Turkey, the parties announced the establishment of a high strategic committee.

The heads of Turkey and the Emirates discussed the topic of bilateral cooperation in various fields and developing it on modern lines. It was decided that the parties will promote cooperation in various fields under the comprehensive economic partnership agreement during 2023.

The two leaders held talks at Qasr Al-Watan in Abu Dhabi. The President of Turkey expressed his belief that the partnership between the two countries will reach new heights from his visit to Abu Dhabi.

The Emirati President tweeted that “I was happy to meet with President Tayyip Erdogan in Abu Dhabi. We discussed the importance of promoting bilateral relations and advancing economic and development cooperation between the two countries.” We agreed on the importance of positive steps to promote peace, stability and prosperity for the people of the region.

The Emirati President and the President of Turkey reviewed the new ways of bilateral cooperation. In particular, strategies for increasing cooperation in the fields of investment, technology, digital transformation, space, infrastructure, industry and renewable energy were discussed.

The parties also discussed the COP 28 Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The conference will be held in the UAE later this year.

The parties reviewed the important regional and international situations and changes of interest of both countries. He expressed his belief that dialogue and diplomatic solutions are the ideal way to deal with the crises and challenges facing the region.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan presented the ‘Zayed Medal’ to the President of Turkey. It is the highest medal of the country which is presented to the leaders, rulers and chiefs of different countries.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented a Turkish-made electronic car ‘Tog’ to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.
