Members of the National Assembly of Kuwait have elected Ahmed Al-Saadoun as Speaker on Tuesday. Ahmed Al-Saadoun has been the Speaker of the Assembly three times before.
Ahmed Al-Saadoun has been continuously elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly since 1975.
Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah made the announcement at the opening of the 17th session of the National Assembly, according to Kuwait’s news agency Kona.
The Kuwaiti Crown Prince said that the National Assembly should use constitutional means wisely to achieve its political goals.
It should be noted that according to Article 92 of the Constitution of Kuwait and Article 28 of the Assembly Regulations, members of parliament have to elect a speaker and a deputy speaker in their first session.
It should be noted that a new government was formed in Kuwait on the last day under the leadership of Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
Fifteen ministers are included in the new cabinet. Talal Khalid Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah will be the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, while Saad Hamad Nasir Al-Barak has been given the portfolio of the Ministry of Petroleum.
Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has been appointed as the new Minister of Defense. Salim Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has been made Foreign Minister while Usman Muhammad Al-Aiban has been made Minister of Commerce.
